Reaching every child with life-saving vaccines remains a global challenge. Despite decades of progress, millions of children each year remain zero-dose — never receiving a single vaccine — while others fall behind on routine immunizations. The problem is particularly acute in remote or rapidly growing communities that are not visible in existing health maps and plans.
Traditional paper-based microplans often rely on outdated or incomplete data, leading to missed settlements, underestimation of populations, and inefficient deployment of resources. These gaps create inequity: some communities are oversupplied, while others remain unreached.
Akros addresses this challenge by helping governments apply geospatial intelligence and digital microplanning tools to identify missed populations, plan outreach with precision, and monitor coverage in real time.
01
Geospatial Microplanning
Akros works with ministries of health to digitize microplans using the latest settlement and population data. Every community is mapped, ensuring no settlements are overlooked.
02
Health Facility Catchment Maps
We support governments to validate health facility catchment areas (HFCAs), aligning population estimates with service delivery responsibilities.
03
Integrated Information Systems
Microplans are linked into DHIS2 and other national systems, ensuring data flows seamlessly into existing health information infrastructure.
04
Country Ownership & Sustainability
Tools and processes are designed for ministries to adopt and maintain, ensuring sustainability beyond project timelines.
This work is delivered in partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, WHO, UNICEF, ministries of health, CIDRZ, CHAZ, and global implementing partners.
