Vaccine Safety Pharmacist

Windhoek, Namibia

Akros Research is supporting a 3-year program, funded by the Mastercard Foundation and in partnership with the Africa CDC, to increase Covid19 vaccine uptake in Africa. This initiative, called Saving Lives and Livelihoods, includes multiple components and partners working to procure, distribute, and promote vaccine uptake in a safe manner. As a part of this consortium Akros Research will support Africa Union member states in the Eastern and Southern African regions to strengthen COVID-19 vaccine safety surveillance systems. Under this initiative, Akros Research is seeking a Vaccine Safety Pharmacist to support AEFI surveillance systems strengthening and coordination of vaccine safety regulatory functions.

DHIS2 Engineer – Short-Term Consultancy

Namibia

The Consultant will work with Akros Research to provide direct engineering support to the Namibian Ministry of Health and other relevant stakeholders to improve the existing DHIS2 instance for AEFI reporting, and any other modules within the national DHIS2 platform that require support in order to deliver a fully functioning system for safety surveillance. The Consultant will actively liaise with key actors within the respective government, district and sub-district stakeholders, stakeholders participating in the COVID-19 response, HISSP, and Akros Research senior management and software development teams to facilitate the realization of activity objectives. The engineer will be responsible for conducting initial scoping to document user challenges and requirements, execute fixes and changes to key business processes within the system, conduct testing and support final rollout, and provide comprehensive documentation. Quality assurance will be overseen by Akros Research and the Namibian MOH HIRD.

Senior Data Scientist (SDS), USAID Tanzania Malaria Surveillance Activity

Dar es salaam / Dodoma, Tanzania

TMSA aims to support the Government of Tanzania (GOT) to reduce the burden of malaria and move towards the long-term goal of malaria elimination.  USAID/Tanzania will fund malaria case management, malaria in pregnancy through quality improvement initiatives and malaria surveillance, entomological monitoring and monitoring and implementation of other drug-related interventions. Estimated start date is September 2022.

The Senior Data Scientist (SDS) will provide broad technical support to the Malaria Surveillance and Epidemiology officers (SEO) under TMSA. The SDS will be responsible for providing design, oversight and technical backstopping as the SEO works with NMCP in strengthening HIS, data quality, data visualization and merging any gaps between these data outputs and management decision-making. The SDS will provide specific support to further strengthen the microstratification framework on mainland, establishing novel ways to digitize these data layers, integrate with routine and ad hoc data sources, and assist with intervention management and assessment decisions using these data.

Data Officer – Pharmacovigilance

Nairobi, Kenya

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (the Board), the National Regulatory Authority in Kenya established the National Pharmacovigilance Centre which collects, manages, assesses, analyses, identifies signals and communicates safety information related to health products and technologies authorized by the Board. The PPB has a robust reporting system, the Pharmacovigilance electronic reporting system (PvERS) that collates and manages safety reports from both the health care professionals, public, public health programs and the marketing authorization holders.

The National Pharmacovigilance Centre (NPC) works in collaboration with the county governments on Pharmacovigilance related activities. In addition, the NPC from time to time utilizes the designated Pharmacovigilance experts from the counties to review reports received on adverse events and participate in the entry of the data onto the VigiFlow.

In this regard, the NPC with support from Akros Research plans to engage five (5) Pharmacovigilance personnel for five (5) days to review and upload AEFI reports received. The personnel shall be drawn from a pool of Pharmacovigilance experts from the counties.

SLL Country Consultants

Akros Research is supporting a 3-year program, funded by the Mastercard Foundation and in partnership with the Africa CDC, to increase Covid19 vaccine uptake in Africa. This initiative, called Saving Lives and Livelihoods, includes multiple components and partners working to procure, distribute, and promote vaccine uptake in a safe manner. As a part of this consortium Akros Research will support Africa Union member states in the Eastern and Southern African regions to strengthen COVID-19 vaccine safety surveillance systems.

The Consultant will support Akros Research in implementation and coordination of program activities, ensuring a successful implementation of the SLL program’s COVID-19 vaccine safety surveillance. The Consultant will actively liaise with key actors within the respective government, district and sub-district stakeholders, stakeholders participating in the COVID-19 response, and Akros Research senior management to facilitate the realization of program objectives and optimize resource flow.

SLL Country Manager

Lusaka, Zambia

Akros Research is supporting a 3-year program, funded by the Mastercard Foundation and in partnership with the Africa CDC, to increase Covid19 vaccine uptake in Africa. This initiative, called Saving Lives and Livelihoods, includes multiple components and partners working to procure, distribute, and promote vaccine uptake in a safe manner. As a part of this consortium Akros Research will support Africa Union members states in the Eastern and Southern African regions to strengthen COVID-19 vaccine safety surveillance systems.

The Country Manager will support member countries, in line with pre-defined microplans, to improve their safety surveillance systems. This support may range from ensuring administrative procedures are in place to fund local supervision and training activities to providing technical assistance to improve adverse events following immunization (AEFI) and adverse events of special interest (AESI) data acquisition, storing and sharing process to identifying consultants to provide pharmacovigilance expertise. The Country Manager will need to be detail-oriented in their administrative requirements, will need to be adaptable and creative to support activity identification, and will need to diplomatically interact with member state representatives on behalf of the project.

Health Implementation Consultant—Senegal & Mali

We are looking for a skilled, technical program manager to work with and support field-based implementation teams, understand field needs, and translate those needs into planning and implementation system design and modifications. The PM will independently establish close working relationships with the Senegal and Mali NTD teams, will spearhead coordination with stakeholders, and will maintain a strong understanding of all moving pieces within the project, managing and tracking tasks against timelines. Best candidates will be ready to jump in and work with our technical teams to configure and deploy a digital platform for geospatial data collection and intervention planning to swiftly meet client needs.

This is a growth-oriented role. The ideal candidate will be outward-focused, expanding Akros’ global health portfolio using your industry expertise, relationships and understanding of Akros’ key products and services. In the medium-term, focus may expand to lead and shape BD teams internally – institutionalizing Akros business development infrastructure, identifying new technical opportunities, and shaping Akros position and direction accordingly.

While Akros holds a slight preference for long-term employment candidates, we will gladly consider shorter-term consultancies from individuals. Applications from firms will not be considered. Best candidates will be ready to jump in and work with our teams to expand an existing platform for smart ‘spatial intelligence’ data collection and intervention planning and take this approach to new areas of health. We envision this consultant to also work with our implementation teams to understand existing country and use case context, and to configure and deploy the existing open-source platform to swiftly meet the client needs.
