Global Malariologist and Informatics Specialist, USAID/PMI Preventing Malaria Through Vector Control

The Malariologist and Informatics Specialist will provide global technical leadership to in-country, and regional support teams. This role will be responsible for providing broad technical support, and oversight of the integration of malaria data and novel intervention strategies into management decision-making processes across program countries. S/he will be responsible for providing design, oversight and technical backstopping as in-country and regional teams work with local governments and stakeholders to understand the health information systems (HIS) context, recommend approaches for new interventions supporting malaria elimination, strengthen data quality and visualization, and merge any gaps between these data outputs and management decision-making. The Malariologist and Informatics Specialist will provide specific support to implement micro stratification frameworks in supported countries, establishing novel ways to digitize these data layers, integrate with routine and ad hoc data sources, geoenable microplanning and intervention delivery processes, and assist with intervention management and assessment decisions using these data. Global Informatics Operations Specialist, USAID/PMI Preventing Malaria Through Vector Control

The Operations Specialist will provide global operational leadership and coordination across in-country, and regional teams. This role will be responsible for overseeing coordination of informatics activities across countries, and providing broad operational and administrative support and oversight to Akros teams. S/he will be responsible for ensuring in-country and regional teams are executing workplan activities on time, and coordinating resources across countries to ensure efficiency during program start-up and other critical stages of the project lifecycle. She/he will liaise between Akros in-country staff and the regional and HQ hubs and escalate challenges and/or threats to meeting project deadlines and/or objectives. SLL Finance Manager

Lusaka, Zambia

Akros Research is supporting a 3-year program, funded by the Mastercard Foundation and in partnership with the Africa CDC, to increase Covid19 vaccine uptake in Africa. This initiative, called Saving Lives and Livelihoods, includes multiple components and partners working to procure, distribute, and promote vaccine uptake in a safe manner. As a part of this consortium Akros Research will support Africa Union members states in the Eastern and Southern African regions to strengthen COVID-19 vaccine safety surveillance systems.

The Akros Research SLL Finance Manager will provide management oversight for all finance functions of the Akros Research-managed activity across Eastern and Southern African regions. He/she will support the set up and management of a complex systems of regionally focused finance systems. S/he will also provide guidance on financial procedures, and will ensure full compliance with Africa CDC and MasterCard Foundation financial regulations, policies, and procedures.

The Accounts Assistant will assist the Finance Manager in the implementation of internal control systems and financial procedures, ensuring full compliance of Akros Research, Africa CDC, and Mastercard Foundation regulations, policies, and procedures; and in preparing financial documentation for transactions as required by Africa CDC and Mastercard Foundation.

Health Implementation Consultant—Senegal & Mali

We are looking for a skilled, technical program manager to work with and support field-based implementation teams, understand field needs, and translate those needs into planning and implementation system design and modifications. The PM will independently establish close working relationships with the Senegal and Mali NTD teams, will spearhead coordination with stakeholders, and will maintain a strong understanding of all moving pieces within the project, managing and tracking tasks against timelines. Best candidates will be ready to jump in and work with our technical teams to configure and deploy a digital platform for geospatial data collection and intervention planning to swiftly meet client needs.

Executive Vice President—BD (employment or consultancy)

This is a growth-oriented role. The ideal candidate will be outward-focused, expanding Akros’ global health portfolio using your industry expertise, relationships and understanding of Akros’ key products and services. In the medium-term, focus may expand to lead and shape BD teams internally – institutionalizing Akros business development infrastructure, identifying new technical opportunities, and shaping Akros position and direction accordingly.

While Akros holds a slight preference for long-term employment candidates, we will gladly consider shorter-term consultancies from individuals. Applications from firms will not be considered. Best candidates will be ready to jump in and work with our teams to expand an existing platform for smart ‘spatial intelligence’ data collection and intervention planning and take this approach to new areas of health. We envision this consultant to also work with our implementation teams to understand existing country and use case context, and to configure and deploy the existing open-source platform to swiftly meet the client needs.
