Project Lead (Data Systems Support)

Position Overview
Akros is recruiting a Project Lead to serve as the primary liaison between CDC Zambia and Akros on behalf of this grant. S/he will be expected to cast the overall vision for the program, obtain support for that vision from CDC, key implementing partners and GRZ, and be the primary architect of strategies and tactics which will enable that vision to come to fruition. The Project Lead position is contingent upon successful award of the CDC Data Systems Support program to Akros. This position will for one year, with option to extend for an additional four years subject to CDC funding extension and Akros approval.

HIV/AIDS Epidemiologist, Intervention Specialist (Data Systems Support)

Position Overview
Akros is recruiting an HIV/AIDS Epidemiologist, with particular skills in intervention management and decision support. The Epidemiologist will have demonstrable prior success in coordinating multiple funding streams and population impact priorities to optimize benefit to host country government and beneficiaries. Epidemiologist will have demonstrable expertise in coaching and mentoring host country government staff in developing programs that are responsive to epidemiological trends, finding unique but effective ways to present data so as to encourage data use, and introduce transparency measures to strengthen accountability between programming decisions and epidemiological trends.

HIV/AIDS Policy and Governance Expert (Data Systems Support)

Position Overview
Akros is recruiting an HIV/AIDS Policy and Governance Expert (PGE) to support the CDC Data Systems Support program. The PGE will work closely with the HIV/AIDS Epidemiologist to translate optimal intervention management strategies into workable and realistic GRZ policies. PGE will participate in all active and relevant working groups and governance forums in order to advocate for improved intervention management and data accountability frameworks resulting from the data systems integration and intervention management efforts. EMIS Project – Community Surveillance Officer

Position Overview
The Akros Surveillance Officer will assist in the planning, coordination, development and oversight of assigned districts in supporting the establishment and implementation processes of the Education Management Information System (EMIS) within the province. The holder of this position will work closely with stakeholders from the donor organization, key actors within provincial and central channels, District Education Boards, School teachers, Parents Teachers Associations (PTA), other stakeholders involved with education, and Akros senior management to facilitate program objectives and optimize resource flow.

The ideal candidate might be called on to work across multiple programmatic areas to support implementation of all Akros programs in his/her assigned districts. The candidate will be able to manage various programmatic deadlines, identify best practices and leverage implementation efforts across multiple programs to successfully manage his/her districts.

Computer Programmer

Position Overview
Akros is a cutting edge organization that establishes data-driven systems that improve the health and wellbeing of disadvantaged communities. We pride ourselves in our ground-level knowledge of the health systems where we work, and our ability to provide novel, lasting solutions implemented in developing regions.

Akros is seeking a short term contractual computer programmer to perform customization for various information systems and to build capacity of the Informatics team. The programmer will be responsible for working with the informatics team and program managers to ensure customizations are appropriate and fit the needs of the end-users of the systems. Customizations include, but are not limited to, DHIS2 database optimization, creating SQL scripts, developing indicators (from raw data elements) which cannot be calculated directly from the DHIS2 graphic user interface (GUI), and modifying or recreating the automated HTML reports. Initial duties will focus on improving usability of the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) community-level management information system (MIS), supported by UNICEF and the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, which currently receives monthly data on latrine maintenance from over 30,000 Zambian villages.

Position Overview
The EMIS Program Manager will support the Portfolio Lead WASH/EMIS in the planning, coordination, development and ensuring quality implementation of the EMIS program activities. He / she will work with and support the Deputy Program Manager providing necessary technical oversight and guidance to the project team to ensure successful implementation of a provincial wide education management information system platform which meets the needs of all the key relevant stakeholders within the education sector.

Deputy Country Director, Akros

Position Overview
The Deputy Country Director will lead the Program/Technical Department, ensuring the implementation of high quality Programs in line with Akros Strategic Plans. The DCD will also identify and develop potential future programs in close consultation with senior program and technical staff, the Regional Office and the Country Director(CD). This position reports to the CD, and directly supervises the technical and senior national and international Portfolio Leads (PLs) and Program Managers (PMs). The Deputy CD will also have oversight of all program budgets and expenditures ($5-15 million a year), is a member of the senior management team, and will act as CD when the CD is absent.

Business Development Specialist, Akros

Position Overview
Akros is seeking a Business Development Specialist to support partner engagement and bid coordination and preparation from Lusaka. S/he will work under the oversight of Akros’ Director of Business Development, who is also based in Lusaka.

Some general responsibilities include:

  • Participate in proposal preparation for both Zambia-specific and regional opportunities

Human Resource Manager, Akros

Position Overview
The HR Manager will manage all HR related issues, provide legal guidance to ensure compliance with Zambian Labour Laws, managing of office, responsible for logging and tracking commodity use among Akros teams, including computers/peripherals, mobile phones and consumables, and initiating procurements of the same. In addition, the HR Manager will control vehicle scheduling and moderate usage, manage the contract files of all Akros human resources, and coordinate with the Country Director to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies. The HR Manager will ensure high up-time of office utilities, including water, electric, internet and follow up general repairs. Ensure a conducive work environment for all staff.

The HR Manager will directly oversee grounds and maintenance staff as well as Akros drivers, and will report to the Country Director.
