Country Director, Zambia

Position Overview
The Country Director will be responsible for managing ongoing contractual obligations including adherence to workplans, budgets and deliverables; managing human resources, including identification and fulfillment of HR gaps and mentoring and communicating with staff to effect their greatest level of achievement; building and maintaining strong relations with donors (e.g. USAID, UNICEF, etc.) and relevant Government points of contact; and pursuing business development opportunities that will grow country operations.

In collaboration with Akros senior management, the Country Director will set vision and culture at Akros-Zambia, striving for excellence in all projects and relationships to contribute to the continued improvement of health and well-being in Zambia through data-driven systems.

Chief of Party – USAID Tanzania Malaria Surveillance and Monitoring

Position Overview
The USAID Tanzania Malaria Surveillance and Monitoring is aimed at supporting the Government of Tanzania (GOT) to reduce the burden of malaria and to move towards the long-term goal of malaria elimination.

The Chief of Party (COP) will be responsible for primarily engaging with USAID and Ministry of Health (MOH) in Tanzania. S/he will manage the grant, partner agreements, and financial management of the surveillance and monitoring activities. The Chief of Party should exhibit strong technical malaria knowledge. The COP will also be responsible for ensuring control and the overall responsiveness of technical assistance provided under contract.

Epidemiologist – USAID Tanzania Malaria Surveillance and Monitoring

Position Overview
The USAID Tanzania Malaria Surveillance and Monitoring is aimed at supporting the Government of Tanzania (GOT) to reduce the burden of malaria and to move towards the long-term goal of malaria elimination.

The malaria epidemiologist provides overall epidemiological support for the project to improve and integrate malaria surveillance systems and data analytics. The role will provide support to government counterparts and research institutions to understand data streams and plan, target and measure intervention impact. The malaria epidemiologist will exhibit strong malaria technical knowledge and the ability to lead in multicultural working environments. Previous experience conducting in-depth malaria data analysis and leading policy recommendations is a requirement.

Finance & Administration Director – USAID Tanzania Malaria Surveillance and Monitoring

Position Overview
The Finance and Administration Director is responsible for overseeing the finance and administrative functions of the program ensuring compliance with the award terms. The Finance and Administration Director will be responsible for management of all accounting, including sub-grants, and ensure financial operations are in compliance with USAID regulations. S/he will be responsible for ensuring that adequate financial management systems are in place and functioning.

Malaria Surveillance Lead – USAID Tanzania Malaria Surveillance and Monitoring

Position Overview
The Result 1 Lead will be responsible for all outcomes associated with Result 1 – Malaria Surveillance. This includes assisting with information technology; facilitating feedback and communication among national, district, and facility levels. In particular, they will communicate with the NMCP and ZAMEP to explore activities which will improve malaria surveillance in Tanzania.

Position Overview
The USAID Tanzania Malaria Surveillance and Monitoring is aimed at supporting the Government of Tanzania (GOT) to reduce the burden of malaria and to move towards the long-term goal of malaria elimination.

(This position is only open to Tanzanian Nationals)

The Mainland Tanzania Malaria Surveillance Advisor will provide technical, strategic advice and programmatic direction for the malaria surveillance and monitoring system development and implementation. The advisor will have a strong HMIS/DHIS2 knowledge and strong technical understanding of malaria surveillance systems with ability for capacity building within existing health systems.

HMIS Senior Advisor (Evidence for Health)

Position Overview
The anticipated USAID Evidence for Health (EH) project will provide technical support to health offices, implementing partners, local partners and the Government of Zambia stakeholders as each strives to improve data systems and utilization. Akros is currently seeking candidates for several roles on this upcoming opportunity. We present the anticipated scope of work for each roles as follows.

The HMIS Senior Advisor directly reports to the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) in activity implementation and management. The Advisor will provide technical, strategic advice and programmatic direction for the development and implementation of HMIS aspects of the activity, for optimizing the generation, identification, collection, processing, storage, and dissemination of quality data and strategic information. The expert technical advice provided will be used by the COP to support the technical assistance, and political direction provided by the activity to key government and non-government partners.

Project Lead (Data Systems Support)

Position Overview
Akros is recruiting a Project Lead to serve as the primary liaison between CDC Zambia and Akros on behalf of this grant. S/he will be expected to cast the overall vision for the program, obtain support for that vision from CDC, key implementing partners and GRZ, and be the primary architect of strategies and tactics which will enable that vision to come to fruition. The Project Lead position is contingent upon successful award of the CDC Data Systems Support program to Akros. This position will for one year, with option to extend for an additional four years subject to CDC funding extension and Akros approval.

HIV/AIDS Epidemiologist, Intervention Specialist (Data Systems Support)

Position Overview
Akros is recruiting an HIV/AIDS Epidemiologist, with particular skills in intervention management and decision support. The Epidemiologist will have demonstrable prior success in coordinating multiple funding streams and population impact priorities to optimize benefit to host country government and beneficiaries. Epidemiologist will have demonstrable expertise in coaching and mentoring host country government staff in developing programs that are responsive to epidemiological trends, finding unique but effective ways to present data so as to encourage data use, and introduce transparency measures to strengthen accountability between programming decisions and epidemiological trends.

HIV/AIDS Policy and Governance Expert (Data Systems Support)

Position Overview
Akros is recruiting an HIV/AIDS Policy and Governance Expert (PGE) to support the CDC Data Systems Support program. The PGE will work closely with the HIV/AIDS Epidemiologist to translate optimal intervention management strategies into workable and realistic GRZ policies. PGE will participate in all active and relevant working groups and governance forums in order to advocate for improved intervention management and data accountability frameworks resulting from the data systems integration and intervention management efforts. PGE will work closely with NAC and partner organizations. The HIV/AIDS Policy and Governance Expert position is contingent upon successful award of the CDC Data Systems Support program to Akros.
